The Sierra Chaplaincy began serving the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office in 1990 on a reactionary basis. By 1992 a 501(c)(3) organization was formed and the Chaplaincy started providing services to The El Dorado County District Attorney’s Office, The Placerville Police Department, The South Lake Tahoe Police Department, and the Folsom Police Department. Over the years more of the area law enforcement agencies requested chaplaincy services currently the Sierra Chaplaincy is providing services to:

 

• El Dorado Sheriff’s Office

• El Dorado Probation

• El Dorado County Search and Rescue

• El Dorado County Fire and EMT

• El Dorado District Attorney’s Office

• Folsom Police Department

• Placerville Police Department 

• California Highway Patrol - Placerville

• US Forest Service

• Amador Sheriff's Office.

From the outset the Sierra Chaplaincy was founded to provide care and support for the public service agencies in Folsom and El Dorado County to include officers, support staff and family members. In an effort to better care for the officers the Community Chaplain position was developed to provide care and support for the citizenry so the law enforcement officers could focus on providing policing services. The Sierra  Chaplaincy is the sole provider of chaplain services available at any time of the day or night throughout the entirety of Folsom and El Dorado County.
